Online conference by Jean-Pierre Cassarino: An epistemological approach to return migration, May 11, 2020
Jean-Pierre Cassarino (College of Europe, Warsaw) will give an online conference “An epistemological approach to return migration” on May 11, 2-4 pm (UTC+2) as part of the EHESS and Centre Norbert Elias seminar “Encounters with Social Scientists”, coordinated by Arundhati Virmani.
The meaning of “return” has substantially changed over the last two decades while being equated with deportation or expulsion in migration talks. It is argued that this change of meaning stems from the consolidation of powerful paradigms that need to be addressed and challenged. These recent developments raise a host of epistemological issues having implications for human rights observance.
